Why did we create Wedge?
US schools have experienced a decade-long decline in learning and mental health.
These declines can be traced in part to the widespread practice of assigning schoolwork on web services that generate ad revenue and leverage principles of addictive design. If you've ever had to sit next to a child so they stay focused while online, you understand the problem. If you haven't experienced this yet, you likely know someone who has.
Existing content filtering solutions used by schools focus on offensive content—not distracting content—so we created Wedge to fill the gap.
Wedge operates like a browser extension when installed on a device, using patent-pending technologies to work along side other technologies even if your school as locked your student's browsing profile. The system is deployed over a VPN—so you get a VPN for free—rather than being installed into the browser. This deployment also allows the system to analyze all web-connected apps with one installation.
